Our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing: "The Sky Dragon"
As we move along on our journey through the Charlie Chan film series, we take a short detour to celebrate the birthday of one of the few Chan players who are still with us today, Elena Verdugo. Our film for this week’s Monday Evening Chat and Film Viewing is “The Sky Dragon,” starring Roland Winters and featuring Elena Verdugo, whose 85th birthday we commemorate, as well as Noel Neill of Superman fame. Miss Verdugo fondly recalls another project that she worked on years later with Roland Winters, a television show called “Meet Millie.” So, “The Sky Dragon” was something of a door leading to the future for the actress.
In this week’s adventure, death stalks the sky as Charlie Chan and Number One Son, Lee seek to unmask the ruthless killer who will stop at nothing to gain ill-gotten riches! Can they succeed before the sinister “dragon” can accomplish a very deadly goal?

Thank you for the Charlie Chan Family salute to Elena Verdugo.
I enjoyed reading your memories of meeting Ms. Verdugo. Your story brings a closer connection for all of us, the fans of Charlie Chan films.
Ms. Verdugo is a classy actress from the golden age of Hollywood film-making. Just the other night, I watched her in "House of Frankenstein" (1944). Ms. Verdugo's scenes with J. Carrol Naish and Lon Chaney are warm and touching.
