The Old Movie Maven Magazine website

Aloha gang,

Recently, I revisited Virginia's website, The Old Movie Maven Magazine. I was delighted to discover areas related to my interests that I had not viewed before.

Along the left-side of the home page, one will find a directory of topics. Down near the bottom of the page, I discovered a section dedicated to "What's My Line," the 1950s-1960s TV quiz show.

After watching one or two classic clips, I was hooked. The quiz show section includes film clips featuring entertainers from the golden age of television, movies, and Broadway. It was great fun to watch Lucy, Desi, Jackie Gleason, Groucho Marx, Buster Keaton, Charles Laughton, Tallulah Bankhead, the Ritz Brothers, et al. One of the highlights for me was seeing Francis the Talking Mule as a guest on "What's My Line." It's amazing that they pulled this off on "live" televsion.

On a historic note, this series includes the last broadcast appearances of radio comedian Fred Allen. Most people today do not know who Fred Allen was.

During 1940s network radio, Mr. Allen was one of the wittiest comedian on-the-air. I found it fascinating to watch Mr. Allen throw out a few quick jabs on this show.

Thank you Virginia for providing me with three nights of engrossing entertainment. Along with informaton about the Charlie Chan films, film clips from "What's My Line" can be found at Virginia's wonderful website. When your schedule permits, check it out. I hope you find Virginia's Old Movie Maven website as interesting as I do.

Aloha,

Hawaii Steve

Dear Steve,

Re: The Old Movie Maven Magazine website

HS, TYSM for the review of my website. One page that I'm tickled to have is a page for Steve that includes information about his Charlie Chan Mystery Weekend, A Chan Birthday Party that James Hong attended (# 1 son to J. Carroll Naish) and an interview with Steve.

Three times thank you for all that, Steve!

And if I may drift off topic for a moment: I will be posted a movie a day for Halloween. They will all be free to watch on line and cover some forty years of horror There will be a couple of ckips about people you may not have seeen.

I'll be start posting it on the last day of September so you all can decide if you all want to watch them through October.

It also gives me a chance to give any trick or treaters an extra treat or two! [Zombie)[Surprise]
