Hi all. I'm not sure what you guys will think about this, so let me know.
An anagram, for those who don't know, is where you take a word, name, or phrase and by using all the letters just once, rearrange them to form another word, name or phrase: the anagram. Typically the anagram has some clever or witty connection to the original word/name/phrase you began with, but not always.
A "Chanagram", then, is my terminology for an anagram of a Charlie Chan-related word, name or phrase. Chanagrams would be an anagram of: A character name from a Charlie Chan movie, an actor's name from a Charlie Chan movie, or even a Charlie Chan movie title.
I thought it'd be fun to see if there's any interesting "Chanagrams" that can be formed. I even thought about turning it into a word game (yes I know I think about games a bit too much, huh?) where I would post a Chanagram of a CC-related name or movie title and you'd guess what the original CC-related name or movie title was. However, it's not easy to make clever Chanagrams (or ones that make much sense for that matter), so I put off the idea.
So right now, I bring up a challenge for you all: can you make up a clever Chanagram?
I'll introduce you to my first Chanagram. Hopefully I can figure out some more in the future. Maybe you all can try to find some interesting Chanagrams also!
Ready?
Here's my first Chanagram:
Starting with the name "Charlie Chan", using all letters just once, rearranged, I formed the phrase/Chanagram: "Aha Clincher"
Not sure if that interests anyone lol but I just thought I'd throw the idea out there..
Great game idea Fan, and ditto for the first game Rush. Don't know if I could do that.
I figured out the answer, but won't ruin it for the others. Actually I am not sure if I have ever seen this movie, at least not recently, maybe back in the 1970s.
You got it, RCF! Actually, it seems that others did, too. Would anyone like to offer another Chanagram?
Sincerely,
Rush
Yeah everyone else knew the answer; they did help with the clue that it had Roland Winters as Charlie Chan. So thanks to them for that.
There's actually some sites that will make anagrams for you. I did a google search for them a while back and found a few where you enter a word or phrase and they'll return a list of anagrams. So if anyone rather do it that way than by hand that'd be fine. It's still a challenge to find a clever anagram though. But we can then compile a list of Chanagrams with credit to those who came up with it! I'll try to figure out some more whenever I get the chance.
Glad you all like the idea! I wasn't sure if the game would be too difficult or not, also it's pretty challenging to come up with interesting Chanagrams but since you all like the idea, I think we should continue it.
