It said it was from a Charlie Chaplin movie, I am not familiar with them, and this object doesn't look like anything that I have seen before.

The only movie that I can even remotely think of is The Mask of Fu Manchu with Boris Karloff, Myrna Loy and all . . . but I'm sure somebody would have already come up with it.
