Tonight's Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing: "Behind That Curtain"

Happy New Year! May 2012 offer happiness, good health, and prosperity for all.

All aboard, everyone, as we embark on our 2012 Charlie Chan Tour! Our journey together will take us through the entire Charlie Chan film series, with bonus stops along the way, reaching our goal at the end of this year. We begin our year-long trip this evening with “Behind That Curtain.” Although barely a Charlie Chan film, with the honorable detective, played by E.L. Park, appearing but briefly – perhaps three minutes of a total running time of 91 minutes! – it is still something of a beginning for the legendary film series that was to soon follow. “Behind That Curtain” (1929) however, offers us a look at an actor who would soon appear as Frankenstein’s Monster – Boris Karloff – in this early “talkie.” This is also a film that spans both time and continents, and offers an interesting adaptation of the book by Charlie Chan’s creator, Earl Derr Biggers. We can, in this first “Chan” Fox film, see a hint of what was to come very soon…the Charlie Chan film series.

Our Chat Room is located HERE at our Charlie Chan Family Home. Please use any of the “Chat Room” links to join us. We begin with arrivals and greetings at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and we roll our personal copies of our film exactly 30 minutes later.

Even if you cannot access a copy of the above-noted film, please do join us anyway, as you will NOT be left out of our ongoing chat and festivities. (Many of our films may be found available for viewing online through such outlets as You Tube, etc.) Also, as is our custom, newcomers are offered the seat of honor at our humble table.

"Thank you so much," and let’s meet for yet another fun Monday evening as we gather to watch “Behind That Curtain.”

(PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to receive weekly email announcements regarding our Monday Evening Chats, as well as receive high-quality scanned movie still images (one per week) from our films of the week, please email us at: charliechanfamily@yahoo.com.)

Thank you so much…

Sincerely,
Rush Glick
