Our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing: "Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo"

As we move along on our tour through the entire Charlie Chan film series, we now reach that sad point, the final appearance of Warner Oland as Charlie Chan, as we view “Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo.” While Mr. Oland later began filming on what would be the next Chan film, what Keye Luke later described as a breakdown halted production. The film was salvaged and remade into a Mr. Moto movie, which we shall see soon. In the meantime, Oland toured Europe, in preparation for his return to the Chan role, but, this was not to be, as he passes away of bronchial pneumonia while in his native Sweden. “Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo” offers us our parting view of Warner Oland as Charlie Chan, as Chan and son, Lee, traveling through the principality of Monaco, become involved in a case of international financial intrigue and murder!

So, please join us in our Chat Room which is located HERE at our Charlie Chan Family Home. Please use any of the “Chat Room” links to join us. We begin with arrivals and greetings at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and we roll our personal copies of our film exactly 30 minutes later.

Even if you cannot access a copy of the above-noted film, please do join us anyway, as you will NOT be left out of our ongoing chat and festivities. (Many of our films, such as tonight’s entry, can be found available for viewing online through such outlets as YouTube, etc.) Also, as is our custom, newcomers are offered the seat of honor at our humble table.

Thank you so much, and let’s meet for yet another fun Monday evening as we gather to watch “Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo.”

(PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to receive weekly email announcements regarding our Monday Evening Chats, as well as receive high-quality scanned movie still images (one per week) from our films of the week, please email us at: charliechanfamily@yahoo.com.)

Sincerely,
Rush Glick
