Our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing: "Charlie Chan in City in Darkness"

Continuing on our tour through the entire Charlie Chan film series, we now reach “Charlie Chan in City in Darkness.” This is the fourth Sidney Toler Chan film, and it is one of the more unusual entries in the film series, one of the few “historical” Chan films, focusing on actual world events that eventually led to the start of the Second World War. In this picture, the City of Light goes dark as the clouds of war gather over Europe as world leaders meet at Munich, Germany in September 1938. Amidst the confusion, Charlie Chan, visiting Paris for a twentieth anniversary reunion of members of the Intelligence Service, becomes involved in a case of murder with international implications.

So, please join us in our Chat Room which is located HERE at our Charlie Chan Family Home. Please use any of the “Chat Room” links to join us. We begin with arrivals and greetings at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and we roll our personal copies of our film exactly 30 minutes later.

Even if you cannot access a copy of the above-noted film, please do join us anyway, as you will NOT be left out of our ongoing chat and festivities. (Many of our films, such as tonight’s entry, can be found available for viewing online through such outlets as YouTube, etc. “Charlie Chan in City in Darkness” IS available, but it has been dubbed in Italian.) Also, as is our custom, newcomers are offered the seat of honor at our humble table.

Thank you so much, and let’s meet for yet another fun Monday evening as we gather to watch “Charlie Chan in City in Darkness.”

(PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to receive weekly email announcements regarding our Monday Evening Chats, as well as receive high-quality scanned movie still images (one per week) from our films of the week, please email us at: charliechanfamily@yahoo.com.)

Sincerely,
Rush Glick
