"Charlie Chan in Egypt" on TCM (Sunday, September 30)
On Sunday, September 30, at 9:30 p.m. ET (6:30 PT),m Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will be airing "Charlie Chan in Egypt." This is a rare treat these days, and it has been suggested by one of our CCF members, Matt, that we could work a "bonus" Sunday Evening Chat and Film Viewing for the occasion. What is your opinion? Would you like to and would you be available to participate in such a special event?
This method of viewing Chan films together, via live TV broadcast, was the spark that led to the format that we use for our Monday evenings today. It was during the ill-fated "Charlie Chan's Mystery Tour" marathon of Chan films on Fox Movie Channel (FMC) back in the summer of 2003 that we first synchronized our Monday Evening Chats with a "live" Charlie Chan film. When the plug was yanked by PC forces, it was decided to continue on our own with the use of synchronized home videos - a practice that has continued now for nearly a decade. (Prior to that, we used to pre-watch a specific film on our own, and then gather to discuss it.) There is something very special, however, when we can see a "live" Chan picture during a network broadcast, as we are seeing it along with many thousands of others.
