Our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing: "Charlie Chan at the Race Track"

It is Melbourne Cup time again! Just as we shall see in our film for this week, "Charlie Chan at he Race Track," the Melbourne Cup horse race is a huge event in Australia and is followed around the world. Just as Mr. Chan was talked into placing a 50-cent wager on Avalanche, so, too, all participants will be given random numbers corresponding to each of the 24 horses in this year's big race, which takes place shortly after out Chat/Film Viewing concludes. The one holding the winning number will win a 1936 silver half-dollar coin to commemorate the same wager - perhaps even using that very same coin to do so!

Our adventure, starring Warner Oland and featuring Keye Luke as Number One Son, Lee, is another globe-spanning chase which begins in Melbourne, Australia, passes through Honolulu, and comes to a conclusion in Los Angeles on the Mainland. Chan and son are placed in grave danger along the way!

So, please join us in our Chat Room which is located HERE at our Charlie Chan Family Home. Please use any of the “Chat Room” links to join us. We begin with arrivals and greetings at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and we roll our personal copies of our film exactly 30 minutes later.

Even if you cannot access a copy of the above-noted film, please do join us anyway, as you will NOT be left out of our ongoing discussion and fun. Also, as is our custom, newcomers are offered the seat of honor at our humble table. (Many of our films, such as this week’s entry, may be found available for viewing online through such outlets as YouTube, etc., although of late, the number has decreased markedly due, understandably, to copyright issues. Good news! A check reveals that “Charlie Chan at the Race Track” IS available for viewing at YouTube…)

Thank you so much, and let’s meet for yet another fun Monday evening as we gather to watch “Charlie Chan at the Race Track.”

(PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to receive weekly email announcements regarding our Monday Evening Chats, as well as receive high-quality scanned movie still images (one per week) from our films of the week, please email us at: charliechanfamily@yahoo.com.)

Sincerely,
Rush Glick
