Our Monday Evening Chat/Film Viewing: "Behind That Curtain"

I hope that everyone has had a very happy New Year thus far. With the turning of the year, it is time to begin our Charlie Chan Tour for 2013, as we journey together through the entire Charlie Chan film series, as it exists today. We will also be taking some related bonus stops along the way, and, as always, we will strive to have plenty of fun during our trip!

The film that will kick-off our travels with this week’s Monday Evening Chat and Film Viewing will be “Behind That Curtain.” As was the case with the “Charlie Chan” films – all silent – that preceded it, “Behind That Curtain” places Mr. Chan, played by E.L. Park, in a minor, supporting role, appearing for but a few minutes near the tail end of the lengthy movie. Despite the lack of Charlie Chan, this is an interesting, well-made picture from the dawn of the talking era containing a few surprises such as what I believe was the first speaking film role for Boris Karloff!

So, please join us in our Chat Room which is located HERE at our Charlie Chan Family Home. Please use any of the “Chat Room” links to join us. We begin with arrivals and greetings at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and we roll our personal copies of our film exactly 30 minutes later.

Even if you cannot access a copy of the above-noted film, please do join us anyway, as you will NOT be left out of our ongoing chat and festivities. Also, as is our custom, newcomers are offered the seat of honor at our humble table. (Many of our films, such as this week’s entry, may be found available for viewing online through such outlets as YouTube, etc., although of late, the number has decreased markedly due, understandably, to copyright issues. Sadly, a check reveals that “Behind That Curtain” is not available at YouTube…)

Thank you so much, and let’s meet for yet another fun Monday evening as we gather to watch “Behind That Curtain.”

(PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to receive weekly email announcements regarding our Monday Evening Chats, as well as receive high-quality scanned movie still images (one per week) from our films of the week, please email us at: charliechanfamily@yahoo.com.)

Sincerely,
Rush Glick
