House w/o a Key

Hiya! I can't find a "contact" address, so let me approach the site thus: In my book, Up from the Vault, there is some pretty decent coverage on ERAN TRECE. Apart from this, I am trying (in a sequel volume) to do a piece on HOUSE WITHOUT A KEY. Any & all info welcomed - John Soister - jsoister@verizon.net

Re: House w/o a Key

Dear Mr. Soister,

Are you looking for someone who may be an authority on the Earl Derr Biggers book, "House Without a Key"? We have such a person in our extended "Charlie Chan family" who may be of service.

I will be interested to see your coverage of "Eran Trece" in your book!

Thank you...

Sincerely,
Rush Glick

Re: House w/o a Key

Hello, Mr. Glick:
I thought that I had answered this post a bit back, but I note that I must have screwed up somehow. Sorry.
Yes, Henry Nicolella and I would very much appreciate hearing expertise from an expert on the Chan movies, esp. one in the know in re: House w/o a Key. I note a complete chapter-by-chapter synopsis on this board, courtesy of Jim Stringham, an old-time serial expert and a chap with whom I\'ve been exchanging Christmas greetings for a couple of decades now. Desafortunadamente, I\'ve been unable to reach Mr. Stringham via snail mail.
I also note congratulations are in order, Mr. Glick, for your new book on Warner Oland. I\'ve already left some rather direct hints with my kids for this book for this coming Christmas. I hope your work becomes a best seller.
Cheers to all, John Soister (jsoister@verizon.net)

Re: House w/o a Key

John, Aloha from Cleveland Ohio and congratulations on your successful publishing career. I'm more of a book worm than a movie fan, and have been studying the Charlie Chan "Canon" (six novels) since 1997. I can tell you, best place to start is this website. There is quite a bit of info on the site in the "Study". Under "Biggers, Earl D.", click on the following Panama hats to read various prevalent articles: 1)#4-"Creating Charlie Chan"; 2) #6-"Earl Derr Biggers (from Harvard Class...", and #8-"Charlie Chan's Poppa".

There you'll learn what prompted Biggers to write the first novel, how Charlie was never originally a main character, and how the author originally planned on two San Francisco newsmen as hero's in the novel.

Hope that helps.
