Our movie for this week’s edition of our Monday Evening Chat and film viewing will be “The Shanghai Cobra,” starring Sidney Toler. In tonight’s picture, Charlie Chan, Number Three Son, Tommy, and Birmingham Brown are on the trail of the Cobra Killer in a very complex and far-reaching case that has its origins across a vast ocean and a gulf of years. Can Charlie Chan avoid the killer’s deadly fangs and solve this baffling mystery?

FILM NOTES: Directed by Phil Karlson, the dark, moody atmosphere of the “The Shanghai Cobra” offers something of a hint of the “film noir” detective genre that was soon to be in great evidence to moviegoers.
