TONIGHT: "The Noble Art of Murder" and "The Hand of Hera Dass"

“Old saying: 'Words in jest often lead to misunderstanding.'" (Charlie Chan)

As we continue our journey through the Charlie Chan film series, we pause to celebrate the birthday of James Hong, our Number One Son in TV's “The New Adventures of Charlie Chan.” This week, in fact, this evening, we will be viewing TWO selections from this crime series: “The Nobel Art of Murder,” and “The Hand of Hera Dass.” In the first episode, Barry Chan is accused of murdering his opponent during a French sabot match. In our second adventure, Charlie Chan and son seek out an ancient artifact that could have dire implications in the Middle East, and murder enters the search from the start.

Please join us in our Chat Room which is located at our Charlie Chan Family Home: www.charliechan.info, and use any of the “Chat Room” links to join us. We begin with arrivals and greetings at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and we roll our personal copies of our film exactly 15 minutes later (8:15).

FILM NOTES:
“The New Adventures of Charlie Chan” is a TV crime drama series that was produced in 1957. It starred J. Carrol Naish as Charlie Chan and featured an up and coming young actor, James Hong, as his Number One Son...Barry! The first five episodes take place in the United States while the remaining 34 adventures are situated in numerous European locales, especially England and the city and environs of London. Unlike the vast majority of the Chan film series, “The New Adventures of Charlie Chan” was filmed in many actual locations.

Even if you cannot access a copy of the above-noted film, please do join us anyway, as you will NOT be left out of our ongoing chat and festivities. Also, as is our custom, newcomers are offered the seat of honor at our humble table. Many of our films, such as this week’s entry, may be found available for viewing online through such outlets as YouTube, etc. SADLY…this week’s featured adventures are not available at YouTube.

NEXT WEEK (February 23) we will be sharing “Charlie Chan in Egypt,” starring Warner Oland.

Please take care, have a pleasant Monday, and let’s all get together for another Chan-filled evening of fun and sharing as we watch “The Noble Art of Murder” and “The Hand of Hera Dass.”

Sincerely,
Rush Glick

Ever seen Big Trouble in Little China and Gang Nam Style?

Here's a parody of BTILC doing a gang nam style dance video. Look for James Hong (the villain Lo Pan in the original movie) in the elevator. If you've seen the movie it's hilarious.
