Vincent Price on Hawaii Radio

On Thursday, May 26th, I am the invited guest for A TRIBUTE TO VINCENT PRICE, a radio program from Honolulu, Hawaii.

May 27th marks the anniversary of the birth of Hollywood actor Vincent Price. The Price tribute will be part of the 808 STATE UPDATE RADIO PROGRAM. The 808 STATE UPDATE RADIO PROGRAM is a daily, Monday through Friday, two-hour talk show addressing Hawaii-related themes and issues.

The program is hosted by Duke Aiona, the former Lieutenant Governor for the State of Hawaii (2002-2009). During the past two years, Mr. Aiona has invited me to "talk story" with him about entertainment and historic-related themes in Hawaii. For the Price tribute, we invite listeners to call-in "live" and share their stories about Vincent Price. The 808 STATE UPDATE RADIO PROGRAM streams "live" on the worldwide web.

During his lifetime, Mr. Price, and his wife, vacationed in Hawaii and became friends with Duke and Nadine Kahanamoku. In 1981, the Price family donated an Alaskan totem pole to the Honolulu Academy of Arts (now the Honolulu Museum of Arts).

In July of 1990, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Price at the American Cinematheque Salute to Vincent Price (July 13-15, 1990). The film retrospective was held at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles. On two occasions, Mr. Price spoke with me about his favorite actors and kindly signed a volume of Edgar Allan Poe short stories.

As with my past appearances with Mr. Aiona, I promise to bring a surprise or two to the 808 STATE UPDATE RADIO PROGRAM. Please join us for a fun program.

808 STATE UPDATE RADIO PROGRAM.

Steve, you are certainly becoming the radio superstar in Honolulu! Thanks for the info and if I can get online to listen I will definitely be there. However, I keep getting "not authorized for broadcast in your location"

Vincent Price on Hawaii Radio-Summary

On May May 26th, Hawaii remembered Vincent Price. A special "mahalo" to all the people that assisted us in the successful broadcast of the Vincent Price Tribute on the "808 State Update Radio Show". Our tribute to Mr. Price touched a nerve with our listening audience. The phone in the studio rang off the hook.

Thank you to our two special guests: Ms. Victoria Price, daughter of the guest of honor. Mr. Mitchell Anderson, one of the five "angles" who cared for Mr. Price during his later years.

Among the callers to the studio, Harry was listening to the program. From his phone he said, "That 'voice' in the audio clips. That 'voice' reminds me of the actor who appeared on the Hawaii episodes of 'The Brady Bunch'". Harry reminded us that Vincent Price appeared in Part Three of the three-part adventure of "The Brady Bunch". Mr. Price guest starred in "The Tiki Cave" (aired October 6, 1972). It was filmed in Hawaii.

Shortly before the broadcast, I discovered that the "live streaming" for the station was out-of-order. Only listeners with radios tuned to Hawaii were able to hear the broadcast. I apologize to those of you trying to connect via the web.
