NCPR Reports - In Error?

After a recent NCPR report by Brian Mann we sent the following email to him and his Boss (she conducted the interview with Brian). Although we initially got an immediate responce that they would investigate they have failed to follow up. What do you think about the issues we raised?

Brian,

In a recent radio interview with Martha Foley about the Adirondack Club and Resort proposal in Tupper Lake, you made reference to 2 items which I think need clarification.

First, you mentioned that Mr. Foxman is a "Veteran at this - doing big development projects and he says this kind of Go Slow process is all part of what it takes to get big projects done." I would very much like to understand what facts lead you to this conclusion. Since the original announcement of the ACR, we have asked Mr. Foxman to provide examples of where he has managed this type of project before. He says he has done it however to date he has not produced any evidence to the fact that we can find. There have been references to his involvement with the Sundance Resort (Robert Redford's project in Utah) and Timber Snowmass or Snowmass Lodging Company in Colorado however we have not been able to find any mention of his name linked with these projects. Certainly if he was involved in these it is doubtful that it was in any capacity near to his involvement and responsibility on the ACR.

Second, You stated the following: "Tupper Lake, when you go to the community now, you see some revitalization, you see some economic energy and hope there and it is keying off this project. The idea that there is going to be this new spark." I would like to remind you that long before there was any mention of the ACR, plans were in place and building had begun on the Wild Center, plans were in place to bring the railroad back to Tupper, Wisebuys re-opened the Ames store, the state build a new public boat launch as well as other new businesses and improvements around the town. If you poll any of the new businesses I am confident that you will find none of them opened in the hope that the ACR would become their staying force. Tupper Lake has been going through an economic turn around but is due to increased tourism, the efforts of the chamber of commerce and other factors not linked with the ACR. To link this economic improvement to the ACR is pure speculation and poor reporting.

Topics that I feel need true investigative reporting on the ACR project are still untouched. I would suggest reports on Mr. Foxman's experience with sponsoring ski resorts of this magnitude and who the current investors are. The original major investors were "Realty Capital Advisors" in PA. Recently the website for this group disappeared. Searches on the internet, yellow pages and BBB come up with nothing also. Have the original investors disbanded? If so, what happened and who are the major investors now?

Over the course of the past 3 years I have enjoyed listening to your reports on the project and found several to be very insightful. This recent report was very discouraging and I feel that it requires public correction.
