Last Monday, I´ve seen the Persian female vocalist Parissa live for the first time together with the Ensemble Dastan at the Philharmonie in Cologne and it was one of the best concerts I´ve seen this year. They performed the songs of Parissa´s new double album "Gol-e Behesht" (interested, Monika?), which I immediately bought after the concert. (I also got it signed by Parissa and four of the five musicians. )
All of the musicians of the Ensemble Dastan (whom I´d already seen before with Sima Bina in 2001) are masters of their instruments, but I think the most spectacular moments were the solo parts/duells of the two percussionists Pejman Hadadi and Behnam Samani. The virtuosity and synchronicity of their fingerwork was unbelievable!
The concert will be aired on the German radio programme WDR 3, which is also available as live-stream on the net, on December 1st. I also noticed that the concert was filmed with three cameras, so I hope it will be released on DVD, just like the concert by Sima Bina two years ago at the Theater am Tanzbrunnen in Köln.
