hehe and then, often we don't like to sing in our langage ( I don't like to sing in French, I think it is a little bit "stupid") but for other people it is very nice, because it looks different .... :)
Recently I discovered a somewhat weird/crazy, yet quite interesting female-fronted band called Stolen Babies (someone on the Sonic Cathedral-forum started a thread about them). I ordered their album "There Be Squabbles Ahead" just today (together with the remastered re-release of Détente´s "Recognize No Authority). To check whether you like Stolen Babies or not, visit their myspace-page www.myspace.com/stolenbabies, where you can listen to four songs and watch a videoclip.
Yup, know it. The album is really great. They actually remind me of Marilyn Manson a lot, especially the singer: the way she whispers/sings, the way she combines that with screaming... but that might be just me ;P Lots of people compare it to Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - no wonder, they actually produced the album...
well hi.I am asli from turkey. I have been an ann mari edvardsen fan for years, she has a great voice.then when I was searching through web,I learnt she has a sister(monika),I found her site, and entered forums,so here I am.I listened to your voice monika, and I think it is genetic, you both sisters have great voice.what is your sister doing? she has been a great influence for me,and you will be too.
I sing my own songs, well I dont know if you will like my style, but if you wonder how it sounds, just check my myspace page:)
I am really glad that you have such a sincere page and forums.you direct it yourself and I am happy to be able to contact you.

asli.
Hi
I haven't been so much on the web lately - I've got some PC-problems...
I checked out Stolen Babies, pretty cool :) It reminded me a bit of Animal Alpha, a Norwegian band.
Hi Asli, I'm listening to your "Yan Sen De" now, it's really got a hit potential! It reminds a bit of ALanis Morisette, only different, hehehe... I added you to my friends list. Hmmm, did you ask about Ann-Mari? I think you did. Anyway, she's got two small children now, so she's pretty busy with thm, but she told me she's gonna record a classical album with piano and voice. She's looking for a good studio deal now. I'll tell more when I know more. Maybe you haven't heard Tactile Gemma? Ann-Mari and me singing... I've uploaded the whole album here:
http://swarmling.net//m/tg.html
thank you monika:)) its great to hear these nice words.
I am immediately downloading the album.I am so excited:)and also thank you for adding me from myspace, you have a very nice page.
I hope ann-mari will find a good record deal and record her album.and her children,I wish the best for them, and for you both sisters.they are lucky to have such talented mother and aunt:)
in addition,I recorded all my vocals at home too.I have an m-audio audiophile 2496 sound card,it helps me get better recordings.also in the last months,I am using the programme "reason" to write music, and I like it a lot.I wrote this 'cuz it might help us share our experiences:))
take good care for now.
Hi;
I was thinking the whole metal scene cd artwork could use more pictures of nature, science and astronomy. I am working on stuff like that. I am sick of gore and
sickness. Satan too, I mean come on already.
Hi Asli,
I wonder why don't you accept requests from bands? I'm not really a band, I just have some of my music on myspace, and I'd really like to add you! ;)
You remind me a bit of Anneke van Giersbergen (who, I just learned, left the Gathering :( )
Hello Monica,
(hi val, hi burkhard)
I've been searchign for a bit of time for some way of contact with you (clearly I wasn't smart enough to find this forum/or was it down?). I want to say that I totally love your voice!!Its not just the voice, its how you actually LIVE the songs.
Contentum and Terrestrials are my absolute favorites. Especially Contentum, I can't get enough of the craziness in Lizard Dance or Ignoramus. And the Panta Rei (Im Greek btw so I was fond of the title at first) its just amazing!I'll stop now before I list all the album
I also heard Tactile Gemma album (it was too hard to find it) and loved Blackberry Jam and Miss Loona's speech, its really great to sing to two amazing singers free from the "music industry's" strings
I hope you do return to music scene one day, not with something that you don't want and feel 100%
I've read some interviews and you seem such a cool person, you are a true artist, a talent
Thank you
Andrew/Frozen (for val and burkhard)
@Andrew: If you hadn´t mentioned your nick, I wouldn´t have recognized you from the Femme Metal Board.
Since you mentioned Tactile Gemma, I´ve just listened again to an album titled "Good or Goodbye" by Rebekka & The Mystery Box which I had ordered online a few days ago, after someone had already sent me a CD-R of this album about a year ago. Even though this album might be more poppish and less weird/experimental than Tactile Gemma´s album, it reminds me a lot of it, possibly because the music is mostly electronic and the vocals sound more than once slightly similar to Monika´s. (What do you think, Monika?)
Anyone who wants to give it a try, go to this page:
http://www.kkv.musiconline.no/shop/displayAlbum.asp?id=30207&cid=1&sid=1 (copy and paste)
and use the preview-buttons to listen to the samples (about 30 seconds each) I´d say the samples of "Little Battlefish" and "Black Dog" remind me the most of Tactile Gemma. Even those who don´t agree with my impression might still enjoy the music.
Hi Monika,
I don't know if you have already noticed this, but recently someone posted two live-clips which seem to feature the original Fear Of God line-up, i.e. the one which is to be heard on "Within The Veil", on youtube. The sound-quality is not that good, but give it a try nevertheless:

Hi Monika and all,
I'm a late guest but hope not too late... :)
First, I'd like to say the weird thing (at least for as you called narrow minded metalheads) - the best vocal solo I've ever heard is yours in "letters to Earth". And must admit that Atrox is not the only band I have listened during the last 12 years or so.
It is pity how the vocalists (like you) with so much control over their voice and ability to release so much emotion are underrated.
My huge respect to you Monika. Of course you should be confident, as long as you feel it sounds/feels/etc. good for you it is worth to exist, and in fact there are always people who somehow feels like you or receives released energy and therefore likes what you create. (moreover, some people listens to even more weird stuff, like Milton Babbitt for example).
About my projects, I was an active musician, played something like melodic death with progressive elements with the band called Oberon. But before we released an album we split up and I've chosen different priorities in life for some reasons... Now I'm studying and music is more freetime activity.
www.myspace.com/valeritsatsishvili my profile and I have couple of my demo tracks there in case someone is interested.
I'm interested in avant-garde music in general. But none of my mates share my preferences, so I'm alone in searching of 'all the weird stuff out there'
So thanks for the bands/projects I've found here, I'll listen to them.
Madder Mortem have done a really cool computer-animated videoclip for "Where Dream and Day Collide", a song from their excellent current album "Eight Ways". The clip can be viewed here:
