Project Designer / Technical Architect

We are seeking an experienced project designer or technical architect to join our holistic Design/Build team to plan and build facilities for science and technology clients including biotech, medical, food service, and precision manufacturing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead fit-up projects from start to finish with one of the region’s most well respected and financially stable real estate firms.

Responsibilities:
Cummings Properties science and technology incubators and built-to-suit facilities are a well-know destination for lab and R&D clients. Work directly with clients and our internal leasing, construction, and engineering team, to build and renovate wet labs, clean rooms, and manufacturing centers. Take responsibility for fit-up planning, estimating, construction documents, and construction administration. Learn how to plan related HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Requirements:
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture
• 5 to 10 years of practical architectural design, including experience with lab and/or technical facility design principles, casework and equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems.

Qualifications:
• Fluency in AutoCAD, Revit, Word, and Excel.
• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• High attention to detail and an ability to generate cost-effective design solutions.
• Positive, “can-do” attitude, and strong written and graphic communication skills.
• Applicants should be local area professionals with proven expertise, a desire and aptitude to learn and adapt on the job, and work ethics to match.

About the Design Department: Our team of designers, architects, and engineers produces a large volume of diverse projects, including new building, fit-up, and speculative property development plans. In addition to our fit-up work, current projects include large-scale site development, multi-story commercial buildings, and assisted-living residences. We also plan exterior, interior, and energy retrofit renovations to existing buildings.
