People do not learn from mistakes. Not even their own ones. They pay for them.
The advantage of being an armchair critic is that you do not even have to pay for your mistakes. Take the one Brian admits to o.b.o. the American community. They can simply up and leave, they can also stop rendering aid. Those on the receiving end can and will pay the price.
Not that the South African community are blameless. We are paying the price because we allowed ourselves to be sucked into the vortex of materialism. When we were confronted with the alleged results of a "no" poll at the referendum, i.e. loss of jobs, loss of economic stability, loss of possessions, we (almost) all voted a resounding "yes" to what we now have: loss of everything that we wanted to protect and then some.
The wonder of it all is that God, who allowed us the freedom of choice to make the first mistake, is more interested in our character than in our comfort.
There is no doubt that the present situation in South Africa can and will build strong character among its people.

Jy kon hoor hoe hulle oor en weer op mekaar skiet. Nee wat mense oorals in die wereld is daar maar misdaad. Kyk hoe moes ons anderkant landers in orkane en tornados sterf. al verskil is dit is natuur rampe. Ja iets moet gedoen word, maar wat doen ons blankes. ons worry net oor ons self en staan nie saam nie. hoe dink julle het die anc aan bewind gekom? hulle het saam gestaan. dis al van my kant af
