Is direct sunlight required for solar panels to work?

In some places, sunlight can't be completely available. However, solar panels can be protected from the sun by the surrounding trees, buildings, and weather conditions. Should you install solar panels? In addition to the type of weather, other factors such as shade and humidity can also affect the system's performance.

Although solar panels are most effective in direct sunlight, they can also function without it. The photons from the sun are split into two types: direct and indirect sunlight. Since photons from both types of sunlight are responsible for the energy that solar panels produce, they can only produce as much power as they receive from both types of sunlight. In indirect sunlight, the light from another surface is reflected off and cannot be used by solar panels.

If there are any additional questions about the effects of indirect light on solar panels, contact a solar panel expert.
