I still got beaten by children and had an 8 year old girl hot on my heels. It started badly when I forgot my shoes. Tom kindly leant me his shoes, but as they were two sizes too small I decided to wear his worn out pair that were a size bigger and had been stretched over many years. Sadly all the grip had also been worn off in those many years. I had a tricky first few checkpoints sliding around on steep hillsides, but was able to pick up some speed on the tarmacked tracks through the park.

We did not make the team results for this race as we only had two people running. We finished highest in the team table of teams that only had full teams at two races.

I was trying at the L&D XC race Lawrence - honest - it's just not my strong point running up steep hills and wading through deep mud! Very tough course but a good laugh though. Thanks for the lift!

I know this is a results thread - but huge thanks again to all the Striders who came along to support in cold conditions! Some had words of cheer, sweets, insults and some ran with those who needed it! I didn't see everyone, but would Locke to thank Jo And Rob B-C, Nigel and Jane Grant, Nigel Foo, Marie Motley, Jane Woods, Diane Hennigan, and others I'm sure. Also great to see people who were running part of the race as part of their training - Jo, Emma, Ste, Judith. Great support from LRC and Kirby Milers too - a great event!
