Just to underline what Jay has said, Saturday's 4th place finishes by both the mens and womens teams represent awesome performances by our runners.

In each case, we were kept off the podium by three ATHLETICS clubs, all of whom have track and field facilities and have been around for an awful lot longer than little old Penny Lane Striders!

With the real chance of a Sunday league 'double' and the promise of equally good showings at the Northerns at Knowsley Safari Park at the end of the month and the Liverpool and District Champs at Clarke Gardens next month, it promises to be a terrific climax to the season on the country

York Brass Monkey Half Marathon

339 Richard Thorpe - 1.32.14 - PB

While lots of people were having fun on a hilly helsby course, I was at York which must be one of the quickest half marathons around. Pancake flat course around rural York. One to look out for next year, but it always sells out within a hour so you will have to be quick - entries normally open in October.

The men have won the team prize. Martin needs to run Birchwood to keep the individual title. There is an outside possibility of the women also winning the team title, which would be nice.

More than a slight possibility for the women Lawrence it's all to play for being level on points with LRC a bit of extra support from the men who have finished and those around the girls on the course and it's going to be a close finish!!! We can do the double!!!

I said, "Outside possibility," as the team prize is decided on the best 5 results. LRC have one very bad result which is dragging their score down at the moment. I don't know what the deciders are if it is a tie; could be 6th score, result at the last race, most wins or something else.

I believe PLS with have to finish 2 places higher than LRC to win the title due to the best 5 out of 6 results. All hands to the pump!!
