Off Road Champs - Parbold Hill Race 11/02/17

Parbold Hill Race this Saturday, the penultimate fixture in the 2016-17 ORC's. Entries have been full since November but there are usually drop outs, so you can chance it and enter on the day.
The organisers have circulated that the Farmers Arms is no more (no more rushing to get by the fire!), but the car park is still available. Spaces limited so car share were possible. Post here to organise lifts etc.

See you all Saturday in what I anticipate to be a glorious mud bath!

I hope not to jinx it but birdflu seems to have cleared
Therefore Parbold car sharing is on
I'll be at sport centre @1230 for whoever has pre booked, I suggest who hasn't to leave at least half hour earlier...

I grew up in Parbold and seasoned observers are saying the course is the wettest it has been in a generation. I was advised to pack a snorkel for that first downhill drag through the fields behind the school. Should be fun!

Phil,
Can't be worst than 2015, stream crossing was scrapped after that
Although local knowledge is a MUST in this race...better safe than sorry

Simone,

2015 was a very dry year. 2016 was very muddy. The course is very well marked. I can't think of a section that requires prior knowledge; Parbold is no Fell race. There are two fence jumps that have got smaller over the years I've been doing the race.

Re: Off Road Champs - Parbold Hill Race 11/02/17

Fences are exactly the same, you just got used to them...
Knowing where there's a river crossing or a stile jump coming is still classed as LK in my view...
But these are all useless details, Parbold is pure joy!
Like a fun fair for runners

Also...
If you have the time to remember exactly the dry and the wet years @Parbold....
Then you have way too much precious time in your hands

Re: Off Road Champs - Parbold Hill Race 11/02/17

2014 - wet
2015 - dry
2016 - wet
2017 - ???

Law of averages says it'll be wet but who knows.....

(I know 2015 was dry because it was almost 4 minutes faster than the other years!)
