Well it was back. This time it was free, like a parkrun; but requiring pre-entry. Next year it is hoped it will be back to £4 and prizes will return. I thought I'd won the race having made it to the last downhill 200m from the end without being caught; sadly I was mistaken. The first indication I received of impending trouble was the fast pitter patter sound from behind. I thought I could just push harder, but they just came past anyway. Now I wonder why I didn't just push harder. Lost by 4 seconds apparently. Still, good to be in a race.
A lovely evening for a hill run. I perhaps foolishly believed the route would be obvious and well marked as described in the race briefing. Alas when I took the lead of the lagging chasing pack, who had been well distanced by a strong leading 3, I made matters worse by going the wrong way. You know it's bad when you're asking birdwatchers if they've seen any runners go by. I did manage to beat the former Strider Josh Keogh who has become a native of Llandudno.

I've done three of the Runfurther races this year. I have finished third in each one. This was the closest I've come to second. I was 11 seconds slower than second place. They started 5 minutes after me. The runner who won started 15 minutes later, but he managed to overtake me to show his superiority. Conditions were pretty good for running in the hills. We were in cloud most of the day.
