Renamed in memory of Ron Hill who passed away earlier this year. There was a 40 second applause to represent Ron's 40 attempts at the race, winning 6 times and setting a pb of 16.52, which was only good enough for 2nd that year.

A short and sharp race, a bit on the road and then straight up and down the pike. Nice conditions and well supported.

The race was advertised as 27.4 miles, but I'm not sure how that distance is achieved. I did take a few wrong turns/paths, but it seems I may have still managed the shortest distance. It starts off easy on a canal tow path. The confusing elements come later in fields/brambles. The race organiser does contribute funds to the upkeep of the path; the race route pretty much follows the Burnley way. Good news is parking is free in Burnley on Sunday, the race has three well stocked checkpoints (I assume they don't run out of water or sweets) and there's a bottle of beer and technical T-shirt for finishing.

Another great showing from the PLS at the final Wirral MT race at Arrowe Park. The mens team finished in 3rd place behind two athletics clubs - Wirral and Wallasey, and the womens 4th place behind two athletic clubs (Wirral AC A &B) and UTS Running Club.
