Hi everyone, just a reminder about Marie Motley Wirral run this Saturday.
This is the first of the Wirral Trail Runs (which was rescheduled from 29/5 to 11/6).
Meet at 8am on Saturday 11/6 in car park at Wirral Country Park and Visitor Centre - Station Road, Thurstaston, Wirral, CH61 0HN.
Full details of the run below - the full route is about 9.5 miles but there is an option to do a shorter 5 mile loop.
Please indicate if you intend to come along in the Event comments.
The route starts from the Thurstaston Visitor's Centre car park. Firstly, there is a loop out towards Heswall for a couple of miles on the Wirral Way and then returning to the church in Thurstaston village via footpaths across the Heswall Dales and along the sides of the fields above the Wirral Way with great views across the river Dee to North Wales. (Note: There is an option for a shorter run of about 5 miles by returning to the start at this point). The full run continues across Thurstaston Hill rising up to the Trig point which is the traditional photo stop for the run. The route then follows the sandstone rocky outcrops along the ridge of the hill before descending through woodlands to Royden Park. There is a short break taken in the middle of the park where toilets and drinking water are available. The next part of the run follows footpaths across Montgomery Hill and through more woodlands until Caldy village is reached. There is a further footpath down towards the coast to re-join the Wirral Way for the final few miles back to the starting point.
Please note the Wirral Trail Run tomorrow is CANCELLED due to lack of takers. The next one is scheduled for Sunday 26th June.
