An excellent evening for a fell race. Unfortunately the good weather had helped the bracken grow very high and dense. The ground was rock hard meaning wearing trail shoes, like I did, worked out well. Dipple did complain at the end that the ground was too hard. I complained about the bracken, but I suppose it all gave the race character. Michael had a mare on the final descent over heather (well Simo passed him)

It was an overcast, but warm night. The course had been well gardened with a machete, so was setup for a PB. I thought I had beaten the field on the climb to the mast, but unfortunately I became quite aware of company on the long descent, and then downward traverse, to the finish. It was around here I broke my hand, but that was a few months ago. I managed to stay upright and pull away on the climb to the finish and victory. The prize was a signed, hand drawn, picture by the race organiser Charles Ashley. Charles had gone for an odd selection of prizes this year, replacing the traditional wine with garden shears, sunglasses, sweets and a towel to name a few.
