On second thoughts, maybe not.....

Ironman Austria (3.8km swim/180km bike/42.195km run) in Klagenfurt was both epic and brutal. Klagenfurt has been basking in a heat wave, so neoprene wetsuits were banned from the swim (a decision I was happy about; 25deg water is too hot for wetsuit). Bike course was absolutely stunning, with Alpes in the background, through small villages and 1600m of climbing. Run was brutal. Temperature in Klagenfurt was 35-38degrees, neither bike nor run had shade, and there was no wind. So after 6hrs of biking in direct sunshine, off we went for a marathon -in the scorching sun shine. Organisers run out of ice, so keeping body temp down was difficult. I take sunshine and heat over rain any day, but it meant I had to adjust; My slowest ever marathon (4h50), and by a tad my slowest ever Ironman (12h32min), but my 1st ever top 10 finish. Seems I was not the only one suffering! Probably the Ironman I have had to dig the deepest but I am proud I finished on my own feet!

Thanks Christina, had the benefit of reasonable weather in Chester and a swim with the tide hence the crazy fast times. All pales into insignificance with Tarja's day out give me 16c and showers anyday. Well done super T

Me too Dave. I struggle with the 10k in Florence in those sorts of temps but according to their tech adviser it's cos I'm fat, so I'm not sure what your excuse is ha ha

Nige by the time I started watching we were already losing 2-0, then I dozed off and woke up just in time to see Torres score. As Tony Man so eloquently put it, it's like watching group 5 trying to run with group 1
