I'm around for the 15th, come on girls lets show the lads a winning team
Bringing this one back to the top. The North West 3 stage (women) and 4 stage (men) on Sat 15th September at Marbury Park near Northwich is 5.4k each leg, the womens race starts at 13.15 and the men at 14.30.
For those too shy to post on the forum I will also be taking names on club nights. We had three ladies teams last year and a really good day out
.
More details on the Northern relays the weekend after (22.09.12) to follow....
Both for me please!
Count me in for both please .
Definitely count me in for both please
Just bringing this back to the top of the pile since no-one has declared since the end of July and the teams are to be selected based on who puts themselves forward on the forum.
We should be able to get a nos. of teams in each event, especially the North West Relays in Northwich where it is only 4 to a mens team.
Come on lads, the future's bright - the future's black and white !!

Final notice for the relays on the 15th. We need 1 more runner to be able to make 4 teams!!! We are going to submit entries tonight. If anyone else wants to run please let me know on the forum today.
Russ,
Put me down for the 22nd as well as the 15th. Assuming RTT blister has finally healed I will be there, if not very quick as not run for nearly 3 weeks.
Andy
If anyone drops out I may be able to fill in. Phone not working at the moment though.
Don't sound so enthusiastic Paul !!
As you won't need your phone to run 5k I'm sure Russ will find a place for you.
Hi Russ
Sorry I won't be available now for the 22nd as I have to go home that weekend.
Tim
Thanks everyone, all noted. Vice Captain Neil and I will be formalising teams in the next few days and checking everyone is still available.
The 13th NORTH WEST COUNTIES ROAD RELAYS - Saturday 15th September
Right lads the first relays race is on Saturday. The relays will take place at Marbury Park (CW9 6AT) near Northwich (off A533). It starts at 14:30 so aim to get there early. We've entered 4 teams. Each team consists of 4 runners running a distance of 4500m. We need one more runner or someone will be 'volunteered' do a double. Vice Captain Neil Kelly will decide on teams and register you on the day.
Directions and map
Club vests must be worn.
I need you to confirm you will be available on Saturday. My email address is rburnhamwk@yahoo.co.uk and I'll be down on Thursday if you have any questions.

We had four mens teams and two complete and one inclomplete ladies team in the North West Relays.
PLS Men's A-team (Martin Swensson, John Connolly, Neil Kelly and James McNally) won Merseyside bronze. Well done guys; if I recall correctly, this is the first time for PLS men to win a medal in the North West County relays.
I do not have results for the mens teams, but results for ladies teams are as follows:
PLS A-team 4th in Merseyside
Maria Kelly 21:12
Jane Eardley 23:47
Pamela Thurtle 23:19
PLS B-team (2nd B-team in Merseyside)
Tarja Kinnunen 25:59
Michelle Cobourn 24:27
Oonagh Jaquest 25:39
Jane Hallows and Rachel Rick run as "incomplete team".
Well done all and super chuffed for the boys; shows hard work pays off!
WOW!! Well done to all the ladies and gents who took part!!
Northern six stage relays are this Saturday, I know Capt Russ has already had a show of hands but just bringing this to the top as a reminder and to see if anyone else fancies it.
These are great events to take part in, you get club runners of all abilities taking part and they’re a great occasion.
Ask Eamon, he likes the relays so much he’s entering a team all on his own so he can run the six legs*
*possibly not true
A fanatastic result for the men's team at the relays this weekend coming 3rd!!!
Well done to all the Striders who represented the club and gave it their all! Also a big thankyou to Vice Captain Neil for 'managing' the men and thanks to Eamonn who ran a double leg.
I'll be their next weekend running or waving the flag. As John says this is a great event to take part in!
Yes, well done to all who took part. Great effort by all teams, a big thanks to all who made it such a good day
After getting the results, the lads noticed Wirral AC had come infront of PLS. We thought they may have had an illegible runner or something to disqualify them.
I mailed Leo Carroll from Wirral AC to confirm and it turns out the organisers mistook Wirral AC for Leigh and Wirral are the rightful owners of them bronze medals!
We'll pass the medals back at the six stage relays Saturday.
Genuine mistake (not by PLS!) and we were only 11 seconds behind
Hopefully we'll all still keep them big advertising contracts awarded to us on the back of the bronze medals
*phones Just For Men rep*
Bloody hell mate - taking the Olympic spirit a bit far here aren't we ?
This club's never won **** all - and then you offer to give it back !
No doubt Martin will be using his professional expertise to remind us that possession is in fact nine tenths of the law.
Don't fall for all that 'it's not the winning.....' nonsense.
And what is an illegible runner anyway ?
This club's never won **** all - and then you offer to give it back !
Nige the club has won medals (both bronze and silver) a few times at these relays. It just wasn't the boys.
I'm sure our good deed this year will generate enough good vibes to get us a medal next time.
PS maybe an illegible runner is one that goes so fast you can't read the number.
Cristina
Of course I appreciate that tho' we're not exactly Real Madrid we have some previous achievements to be proud of.
It was only a tongue in cheek rant. The truth is usually a victim in such situations!
Nige I beg to differ, we won a case of Stella at Standish Hall 10k for the mens team prize this year and the women scooped the team prize too!
We were kept off the cover of Athletics Weekly by Jess Ennis
re illegible runner - I left school at 15, think on eh?
Nige the club has won medals (both bronze and silver) a few times at these relays. It just wasn't the boys.
FOR THE ATTENTION OF M HIRRELL
like my scottish friend nigel
i find it very hard to take womens running serious
i know its a great way to lose weight and meet men
most women struggle with left an right
dont like mud or the cold or the heat or the rain
competative races, you just get in the way
Help lifts needed on saturday!
Myself, Lyndon, Dean and Ceredig need a lift on Saturday. Can anyone help?
Good points and well made Marty, don't forget you can also meet women, too. Either way I think you should tell Ann.
The weight loss aspect hasn't worked too well for you though, has it.
