Saturday 19th April 2014 (Easter weekend)
Second race in the 2014-15 multi-terrain championships.
Rivington Pike Fell Race
A straight up and down race to the pike, graded AS, approx 5.2km. If you think you know hills, think again!!
Fee: £5 for race, another £2 to enter into Merseyside Championships
Registration at The Crown Hotel pub,Chorley New Road,Horwich,BL6 7QJ
Registration closes 15 minutes prior to start of the race.
Race limit of 500
A popular race so probably best to get there before 2pm to get a parking space at the pub and a race number. Takes about 45 minutes to get there from Liverpool, and you can see the top of the pike from the M61
Leo Carrol will be in the pub taking race fees of £2 to enter into the Merseyside Championships for consideration into the County Fell Team.
A good turnout and we could be winning team prizes again. See you all there
Putting this back to the top. Race is this Saturday and not to be missed. If you're going to do one race this year, make it this one!
The Crown Hotel pub is a nice place for a drink / socialise before and after the race...even has the footy on!
For those that are going, put your name down and we'll see if we can arrange some car shares
glorious weather, glorious day, fantastic support....
if this doesn't wanna make you switch to fell running, tell me what does!
also lots of pictures from:
ps. note: despite the uneven mountain footpath, that only us and the goats, the greasy spoon van could not be missed! ;-D
Looks lovely Simo. Didn't do it as it was my birthday and cake/wine won the toss!
Is there a full list of multi-terrain fixtures for this season anywhere? The page doesn't seem to have been updated.
Oonagh he's got the list on an old forum post. I will find it and bump it up.
I can see no better way to celebrate a birthday than fell racing, stuff your face with cake and pop a bottle of fizzy...
and not necessarily in that order!
food for thought for next year....
