Scenic run through Cuerden Valley Park in Bamber Bridge. After an afternoon of rain the sun came out just as the race was about to start.126 finishers. Hot and sweaty!

Gutted I missed the last two Badger races !!

Wirral AC 10,000m track race.

Martin Swensson 32:48

A small field (15) for this low key race at windy Bebington on Wednesday night. 25 laps of the track was testing but a good experience. Really pleased with the time but don't think it merits a race report in the Striding Report!

What Martin is far too modest to mention is that the other 14 runners finished behind him and that he in fact won the race.

I've notice on the Club Championship records that gun time has been used for the Tour of Merseyside 10 mile race (I haven't checked the other results). Should these be changed to chip time?
Still never winning a trophy in a million years like!

I don't know if Robby Richey is trying to disown us, but as she ran in a PLS vest all week, I'm going to out her.

Tour of Merseyside total time 7:15:12 - and first in her age category!

Following on from Simo's earlier post concerning the Bollington Nostalga Hill Race, I have to say, it was without doubt the most arduous and difficult race, I have ever ran.

The first 2/3 miles are all uphill, climbing to approximately 1,220 feet. This was absolute torture in places & I must admit, (shamefully!) I was unable to keep running at all times on the ascent; I was in good company though, as many runners had to resort to walking up in places.

Once at the top of the climb, the only way is down & all runners literally freewheel downhill, at times at ridiculously fast paces. Great fun though. Roughly a mile along a canal tow- path & then yet another steep climb. Once at the top, there is a mile downhill gallop to the finish, the last couple of hundred yards being virtually vertical & I do mean vertical !

Makes Parbold Hill look like a walk in the park !

Would definitely recommend this race to any PLS & I am already preparing myself mentally for next year's race.

In fourth place and the first lady across the finishing line was Olivia Walwyn, in a time of 46:49.
Olivia is our record holder, having completed the same course in 45:40 during the race in 2011.
Sharon Johnstone of Wilmslow Running Club was second and Simone Capponi of Penny Lane
Striders, was third, with respective times of 52:29 and 52:31.

Another great night of grass roots athletics at other end of the East Lancs. Really pleased to get under 10 mins as I was sozzled all weekend! Made up my training homey Joe Lazenby smashed his pb and got that magic athletic nobody sub 10 boxed off, not to mention PLS old boy James McNally getting a big 1500m pb of 3:54 outstanding work!

Mikey D's on the way home and when Guilty by Barbra Streisand came on Smooth FM, that was just spoiling us

Hot date with a foam roller now to get my little stumpy legs back for Sefton Park tomorrow, 14 months since I got a pb, got a sneaky feeling it will be 15 by the end of July
