From a training committee meeting a few weeks ago,I suggested a mentoring scheme be started,for new members to be able to contact experienced runners in the club,who could provide advice/support in specific areas of running relating to their specialism(were applicable)
I have have asked a few members already to act as mentors who have agreed and just wondered if the following would be interested,so that I can collate a list to cover all disciplines;
Martin /Fiona Dutton-marathon
John -Track
Pam/Dale/Neil Bullock-X/C
Gill/Simone-Trail
Mal-Sports massage
I.ll be down to the club next week if you could let me know or by message on the forum.
Very happy to help out with any mentoring, can also give swimming advice if that's of any help to anyone, could go hand in hand when doing the Birchwood XC!
Track spikes are not the same, but many people use them as the spikes can be changed for longer ones. Purpose sold XC spikes are very similar to track spikes and generally come with spikes that are too short for muddy XC. 12mm spikes are the general go to spike length. I use 15mm as 12mm sell out.
Most online sports shops sell XC spikes like start fitness:

Natterjacks in Liverpool also sell XC spikes:

They're quite similar though I think XC spikes only have 6 spikes rather than 7-8 and are made with slightly different material. Probably doesn't make much difference, just make sure to put the right length spike in! 12mm spikes are the usual but for more muddy / soggy courses 15mm would be more ideal.
If you go to Natterjacks on North John street they should be able to help you out, or there are plenty of online sites, I usually use Pete Bland sports for off-road stuff
Graham , as you know I am happy to offer advice for off road/trail.
Unfortunately I can't make the 6.30pm meetings at Garston on the 1st tuesday in October or November. Will be there 1st december though. Gill
