My first win of the year I think. I still managed to take a wrong turn at around 20 miles that cost me over 10 minutes and meant I had second place keeping me honest all the way to the finish (I only won by 11 seconds). Unfortunately fellow strider Justin Baddeley did not finish according to the results I have seen.

I had a little rant on facebook about my time being so far out, maybe they heard me...this now matches my watch so ranting over.

Maybe someone who knows what they are doing can pull off all the PLS results in case there have been any other updates?

Evening all,

There have been some really fantastic results over the last couple of weekends, in particular the Wirral, Lake Vyrnwy and GNR Half Marathons.

On reviewing the results, it appears that not all the Penny Lane Striders listed in the results are members of the club.

This creates a number of problems, some are very close to home. The immediate concern I have is the waste of Andy Keeley's precious time as he updates the club statistics and then has to edit and re-edit them, so that there is not a fiasco in the club championship.

I am also concerned about any repercussions registering falsely as a club member to save £2 may have on the club.

To put it bluntly, if you intend to race as a member of Penny Lane Striders then please please join us officially. You probably know that we are a very welcoming and friendly club with very open arms.

(a Long Distance Walkers Event, like the Sandstone Trail race in June)

1st Lawrence Eccles 03:37 (I made it less than 03:35!)

After an eventful drive (it was difficult to get over Runcorn Bridge last Saturday) I made it to Cilcain. I'm not sure I can count this as a race as even being a bit late to start waiting for a GPS signal I was in the front after 400m. I kept running and managed to sweat cobs. The course was not marked. Instead a route description was provided online prior to the event. Showing dedication to not getting lost I went and reccied a section I was unsure of before the event.

Cristina did the 14 mile event. She did miss a turn, and take a scenic route that by some miracle ended up back on route, but said generally the instructions were very good. The LDWA events are definitely less competitive than road races and cheaper. A post race meal and certificate were provided, and a few food/drink stops on the route, all for about £8.

King Offa's **** Race
185 miles, 9085m ascent

The race started on Friday at 20:00 (I write it like that as I thought it was 8am till a few weeks ago). I'll point out it was dark from the start. The ground is varied, with woods, fields, tracks/roads and lots of stiles and gates to negotiate. it also goes up some big hills including the Black mountains (703m) and the Clwydian hills which are probably more familiar being close to Liverpool.

The Mercian race started at the same time and followed the Offa's **** race route 100 miles to Montgomery.

*I noticed after posting that the race name is considered offensive. It follows roughly the old wall made of earth line built by King Offa. Quite a bit of the race is run on top of the wall line.

If anyone is wondering what the word is, it begins with D, rhymes with bike, and proceeds D*** Van.....
