Thanks Meena I figured out the mapping perfectly. It still doesnt make sense why some notes have 2 different characters. It could be simple like the western notation 12 characters for 12 notes. The creators know best.
The main part of my question still remains. How to play a raga like Bilahari which has diff. asc. and desc. notes and the 5 notes of the asc. and also in the desc. So when do I know that I am asc. or desc.
Can someone please tell me about the mapping of the western notes to carnatic ones. I have searched on this but still am confused. I want to know clearly how C,C#,D,D#,E, F,F#,G,G#,A,A#,B - each of these 12 notes map to the 16 notes of carnatic music. Also I haven't figured out the thumb rule of playing raagas with different Arohana and Avarohana. So my fav raga is Hamsadhwani
