I always thought my father's family was from Mt Vernon, Ilinois, but I recently noticed the birthplace of Raleigh Aaron Mayo, my grandfather, was Enfield. The 1880 census shows that early Mayo's lived in Phillips, White Co. also, John Mayo and son Lloyd (or Loied). But that's as far back as I can find any Mayo's but I having fun trying.

My Mom, Eleanor (Walters) Krouse and Evelyn (Walters) Pettit grew up in Enfield. My grandparents were Bill & Flora Walters so I spent a lot of time in Enfield when I was growing up. Although everyone has either passed away or moved away I am still sentimental for this tiny town which is why a visit to Mule Day 2008 is in the cards! Hope to see Cindy Conley and the Storey's there too!

My Dad, Bob Johnson was raised in Enfield and never missed Mule Day, it meant the world to him. For anyone that knew him and didnt know, My father passed away May 9th, 2006. His only request was that he be buried in Enfield, which he was next to his parents Lige and Opal Johnson.
