I like the "Mr. Wong" series as an adjunct to the Roland Winters' Charlie Chan series. I think Monogram did a better job with the "Wongs," than it did with the Roland Winters "Chans"--especially, the "Wong" versions of "Docks of New Orleans"/"Mr. Wong Detective," and "The Chinese Ring"/"Mr. Wong in Chinatown." I think "Mystery of Mr. Wong," is the classiest of the group. I know Maltin hates them all, but that is one man's opinion--and you know what they say about opinions!;-)
Also, I found the "The Case Files of the Oriental Sleuths: Charlie Chan, Mr. Moto & Mr. Wong," by David Rothel to be a very well researched book! Now if the powers that be would just release the remaining "Chans," I'd be a happy "Chaniac"!
Thank you Rush for the reference to YouTube.com. One may also view the Mr. Wong films at www.archive.org.
For the past two weeks, I have been viewing our weekly Charlie Chan films from this site. The prints are acceptable copies from 16mm film prints. The images are clean and the audio is clear.
