Re: "Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia" Second Season Opener Tonight!
Scandal was spectacular. This series does an amazing job of flowing the original Doyle story elements into a new intriguing characterization. Both Cumberbatch as Sherlock, and Martin Freeman (he will be Bilbo in the upcoming Hobbit film) as Watson, are excellent.
The stories are fresh, the cinematic style crisp, and yet for those of us with deep Sherlockian lore backgrounds, original story connections crop up constantly to much delight.
This is a series WELL worth catching (and all of Series One is on Netflix where our family first encountered it)
How this style would work with Charlie is a "hmmmmmm"..... could be wonderful... or wildly painful.... they seem to have a remarkable ability to adapt the character within a framework that is both faithful and radical. But then the loner Holmes may be an easier adaptation, than the avuncular family man Charlie Chan....
