I was watching the silent movie THE HANDS OF ORLAC, featuring Conrad Veidt in the title role. This original silent version has some differences in plot from the later version MAD LOVE. In that version, the murderer, Rollo, was guilty and the surgeon who had operated on Orlac was the villain. In this one, the executed man, Vasseur, is innocent and the killer is actually the surgeon's assistant, the surgeon not being Dr. Gogol in this one.
