OUR CCF MONDAY EVENING CHAT AND FILM VIEWING FOR January 25: “The New Adventures of Charlie Chanâ

GREETINGS! Our presentation for this week comes in the form of TWO episodes of the 1957 crime drama series, “The New Adventures of Charlie Chan,” starring J. Carrol Naish, whose birthday we celebrate, as Charlie Chan, and featuring James Hong as Number One Son, Barry.

THIS WEEK’S PRESENTATIONS: “The Man with a Hundred Faces” and Death at High Tide (both 1957; 25 minutes); along with our “extra,” a Charlie Chan radio mystery, “The Baffling Murder of Col. Willoughby” (Part 4).” (1936; 15 minutes).

FEATURES INTRODUCTIONS:

“The Man with a Hundred Faces”: In Venice, Charlie Chan and Number One Son, Barry work to help a repentant thief, who is a master of disguise, who is being forced to assist a ruthless criminal gang in carrying out their heists.

“Death at High Tide”: Charlie Chan is asked to travel to France to help track down a Nazi war criminal who has recently escaped from custody and is thought to be heading to that country in order to retrieve a stash of gold that was lost at sea during the war.
