Another new Charlie Chan novel: "The Jade Dragon's Curse"

Greetings!

I have been alerted to another new Charlie Chan adventure that is available on Amazon: "The Jade Dragon's Curse," by Antonios Valamontes. I have ordered a copy and will read it when it arrives. The following is the summary from Amazon:

"'The Jade Dragon's Curse' is a captivating mystery novel that delves into the dark secrets surrounding a cursed artifact and the sinister forces that seek to control it. Set in the vibrant streets of San Francisco's Chinatown, the story follows Detective Charlie Chan as he unravels a web of deception, murder, and ancient curses.

"When a renowned art collector is found dead, clutching a jade dragon, whispers of a curse begin to circulate. As Chan delves deeper into the case, he discovers a nefarious plot involving an art forgery ring, a network of deceit, and a hidden power within the jade dragon.

"With each clue, Chan peels back the layers of deception, exposing a web of lies that entangles high-society collectors, ruthless criminals, and those willing to kill to protect their secrets. As the body count rises, Chan races against time to decipher the cryptic clues left behind by the ancient curse and bring the culprits to justice.

"Along the way, Chan encounters a diverse cast of characters—suspicious art dealers, enigmatic collectors, and a mysterious woman named Mei Ling, whose knowledge of the jade dragon holds the key to the truth. Together, they navigate the treacherous path of the investigation, battling both the physical dangers and the spiritual forces that threaten to consume them.

"'The Jade Dragon's Curse' takes readers on a thrilling journey through the shadowy underbelly of the art world, where greed, power, and ancient folklore intertwine. With his sharp intellect, unwavering determination, and a touch of wisdom, Detective Charlie Chan must unravel the enigma of the jade dragon's curse before more lives are lost, and the curse's power is unleashed upon the world.

"This gripping tale of mystery, intrigue, and the battle between good and evil will keep readers on the edge of their seats as they are transported into a world where the past and present collide, and the fate of all involved hangs in the balance."

It seems that there is, indeed, a renewed interest in Charlie Chan, if the release of THREE recent books by three authors is any indication! So far we are one for two as one of the first two has proved to be a worthy endeavor. With this latest release, we shall see what we shall see...

Sincerely,
Rush Glick

Wow! They are dropping from the sky like Chinese New Year fireworks! (old Chinese saying...or something like that.)

This one certainly has an interesting ring to it! Thanks for the heads up, Rush.

Re: Another new Charlie Chan novel: "The Jade Dragon's Curse" (A Definite NO)

Dear Michael,

You pose an interesting question: "Are all those new books developed with AI?"

Reading most of "The Jade Dragon's Curse," I have found the language used to be very bland and "matter of fact." Dialogue comes off both in arrangement and feel as something more like a script than a novel! Also, there is a space between each paragraph which seems an obvious means of filling more pages. Perhaps AI, that insidious dagger in the heart of true creativity, may, indeed have been employed in this case, and maybe for the other examples you mention.

I can state without having finished this small book that it is even worse than "Charlie Chan: Cheeseburgers, Root Beer and Murder," which at least had something of a story to tell with some characters with any dimension.

Perhaps you can, through Kindle, take a look at these other stories and let us know if there is ANY value to them. If you would like to just take a skim through the content and give us your opinion? Thank you!

Sincerely,
Rush
