Hello:
I did a quick scan of last year's messages and I didn't see this subject addressed.
It sure would be great to have "The Red Dragon," "The Feathered Serpent," and "Sky Dragon," finally officially released! The gray-area (is that the term?) copies leave much to be desired. My "copy" of "Sky Dragon" is the most watchable--8 out of 10. "Red Dragon" is the least watchable and is maybe a 6.5 out of 10. The "Feathered Serpent" has contrast issues--seems too light, but is watchable--7 out of 10. The point is: the studio release copies would be the absolute best quality--unless one could go back in time and watch the original releases in the movie houses.http://images.bravenet.com/common/images/smilies/9_cool.gif
Thanks for any insight!

This topic has come up a few times on Kurt's Charlie Chan Message Board. I don't remember anyone having specific information about any release dates, but someone did report that the films in question were still being restored, and they would eventually be released on DVD. Perhaps other people who post on both Boards will remember more of the discussion.
sadly, there is no new word on the possible release of the final three Charlie Chan films which are under the control of warner Brothers. The last I heard, they were searching literally the world over to locate suitable copies, and had found none. Most probably that is still the case. I, too, have "viewable copies of the three with "The Red Dragon" being the worst of them visually.
I will surely post any new information should it come my way!
