Heading inland gets you into mountain territory with waterfalls and small villages where life moves at a completely different speed. Just keep in mind the roads aren't consistent quality everywhere. Main highways are solid but once you veer off onto smaller routes things can get pretty rough. You'll want something with decent ground clearance, not some economy box that scrapes over every bump. Download offline maps too because GPS signal drops hard once you leave the resort areas.
