Dryer vent safety and maintenance habits?

I clean the lint trap regularly and sometimes check the vent hose for buildup. After noticing a slight burning smell once, I started paying more attention to airflow and cleaning habits. How do you manage maintenance while keeping safety in mind?

Re: Dryer vent safety and maintenance habits?

I usually focus on keeping the area around the dryer clear and making sure the vent outlet outside isn’t blocked. It seems like small checks like that already help maintain airflow and reduce issues over time.

I follow a simple routine to keep everything safe and efficient. I clean the lint trap after every use, inspect the vent hose every few weeks, and make sure there are no sharp bends that could trap lint. Occasionally I also run the dryer on a short cycle without laundry just to check airflow. For more structured guidance, I once read https://dryerventcleaningtoday.ca/how-often-to-clean-ducts-tips-for-homeowners/ and compared their suggestions with my own setup. It helped me adjust small things like placement and cleaning frequency. From my experience, consistency matters more than doing a deep clean only once in a while, since regular small steps reduce buildup and help maintain steady airflow over time.
