Finally got my magnesium blood test results back in the UK – not what I expected (Edited by Author)

After weeks of feeling constantly exhausted, dealing with brain fog and random muscle cramps, I asked my GP to check my magnesium levels. To be honest, they seemed a bit reluctant at first – said it's not a routine test unless you have symptoms like low calcium or potassium, or you're on proton pump inhibitors long term. I had to really explain how rough I was feeling before they agreed.

Got the blood drawn at my local surgery last Tuesday, and the results came back "low normal." The GP said that's probably fine, but I've read that even low normal can cause symptoms for some people. I didn't want to keep going back and forth, so I booked a private finger test online through a pharmacy service at https://medicinesbymailbox.com/ just to double check. That one came back borderline low too.

Now I'm trying to figure out whether to push for a repeat NHS test or just sort this myself with diet and supplements. Has anyone else in the UK been told their magnesium is "normal" but still felt awful? What did you do in the end?
