These races usually get decent entries from PLS but with 4 Villages being on on the same day this year only couple of miles away, it was just four of us this year. Good to see Luke Curtis enjoying off road running. Unfortunatelly, the weather was terrible and organisation very poor this time, wouldn't recommend it until they change the date back to September (as before 2020) or organise the registration better. Far too much waiting around in the cold. Got a nice trophy and cash for finishing 1st v40 female.

The Horse 🐎 Fell Race

The Horse Fell Race was a Hoppy creation; a teams only race. Every person over two gave a 5min time gain. Hoppy did it for safety as the race was ran in mid-winter. There were no marshal's up on the hill, just check point clippers put out in daylight. The race was ran at night. The snow added to the atmosphere, and it was actually the nice dry powder kind rather than the wet stuff we normally get. I jumped the gun , with Joel, and was breaking a trail. Soon Joel was doing the trail breaking. A few route choices allowed for a bit of nav choice. Penny Lane Sheep Strider had their name changed to Penny Lane Riders for the race; I'm not sure why. They claim the had the most fun, although they didn't get a prize back at the pub. There was no free post race soup for this one, but the pub was still open. The pub is called The White Horse; what a coincidence!

Unsurprisingly, for a race near Blackpool, the wind was brutal! Ok, apparently this was actually a tropical year relatively speaking. I still found it tough when we turned to come back after 5 miles and suddenly the wind I'd barely noticed assisting me was fighting me. Lisa and Nichola both did very well in their categories; and Lisa was also second 🥈 overall. I got my first V40 prize 🏆 (which was actually 3rd).
