Dovedale Dipper
27 miles

1st Lawrence Eccles 03:41:37
9th George Aylward 04:34:22
18th Julien Tour 04:50:54
47th Michael O'Rourke 05:35:41

The race was part of the Penny Lane off road championship, so I made a late entry after not finishing the Lakeland 100 last weekend. The conditions were near perfect with bone dry ground and cooler temperatures than previous days. There was even cloud at times. It felt warm still however when the sun came out, so the check points, with water and other refreshments, every 3-5 miles were much appreciated.

Post race there was a meal and further drinks on offer included tea/coffee and the ultra running staple of real coca-cola. There was a shorter race also.

Little Dipper
16 miles

9th Stella Hayden 02:30:13
23rd Ste Dipple 02:52:10
33rd Terry Lynch 03:11:41
35th Jeff Gard 03:18:09

I didn't see much of the short race, but it does share some sections so I got to overtake Ste twice. I never saw Stella until the finish where she'd finished sufficiently early to allow for a full costume change, and prize 🏆 collection for finishing third, before I finished. Terry was behind Jeff when I passed them, but apparently Jeff got lost on the unmarked course; and then took a Jura whisky shot from the last check point which may have compounded issues. His ankle was sore so perhaps it helped!?
