Today I got a new personal best in 10k at the Liverpool Spring 10k in 58.19 knocking 8 minutes off my previous time and I also beat my PB time for a 5K too during this race. 5k PB was 28.49.
looks like Tuesday night's meeting is going to be a marathon! Well done to everybody especially those who smashed their pb's.
Just to note a typo on the results for recording them, Rachael Tarbona should be Rachael Tarbuck

It was a hot day which, following a dry week, led to dry conditions under foot. There was the odd muddy section or bog. I managed to run into an overhanging rock; the hazard of wearing a sun cap. Unfortunately I was passed by the eventual winner with a few miles to go. I asked if he was in the race as he passed as he was moving so much faster. Simone's ultra debut ended early. Hopefully he will return, but for now he's giving a Cantwell esque speach on how his body is not built for ultras.
34 at Sandstone Trail for me.

14th May
Moel Eilio (including inter-counties)
74th Lawrence Eccles 73:48
Ideal conditions for the race which was good as it beats getting wet and means less gear needs to be carried and the chance of getting lost is reduced. It looked like a few people still took tumbles based on the scratches and bruises at the finish. I came in 3rd for Merseyside not far behind Wirral's Phil Robertson. Old man John Hunt was first for Merseyside by a few minutes. 3rd was the worst I could do (after failing to finish) as we only had three runners in the team
PB for me at the Mystery 5k - 29.44. (Surname is Tarbuck not Tarban - must be my writing)

This race was in the Off Road Championship. There was also a 10k race (not in the championship):
15 Elizabeth Dennett 01:19:53
Moel Famau was nearly as beautiful as ever (but not quite as attractive as when the heather is in bloom and it's not tipping it down so you can admire the view), the cost of the event exorbitant but for a very good cause, the t-shirt so big you could fit a couple of very good friends in it as well as your own self and some nice food at the end. Glad it's over for another year because I prefer it when I'm up there on my own.

Old County Tops Fell Race
59km with about 3050m ascent
6th Lawrence Eccles and Ken Sutor 07:49
The old county tops is a pairs race. It makes for interesting running as you try to not lose your partner. This gets more difficult in the rain when everbody has a rain coat on near enough. Also at £25 for a pair including a T-shirt (if you finish) and food at the finish, and two check points on the route, it is good value for money. I also got a mug this year, I'm not sure what for.
Mugs are generally for consuming hot drinks from, although some people do use them for a cold beverage too.
Beat me to it David Webb! I was first in my age category also it seems - F35. I think I should get an udder cow bell for that
Christleton 5k

Jura Fell race
44th Lawrence Eccles 4:11:56
I returned to Jura to get a sub4 Jura Whisky glass. Unfortunately as I am a man I needed to run less than 4 hours (women are allowed 4:45 for the same glass). To save weight I had no watch and ran on feel and keeping up with the people around (ok I forgot my watch). I was distressed to be told I was 56th on the last hill climb by a spectator. I have since learnt the race was in the Scottish fell champs. Maybe next year I'll go back even more focused on going sub4. The midges were out this year in force. I can confirm they do come out when it's sunny.

Sat/Sun 28-29 May

I spent all afternoon feeling like a waste of space because I thought was going too slow. I perked up later when it cooled down but there was no making up the time despite managing to run up the big hill for the first time. I finished in the early hours of Sunday morning narrowly avoiding a course PW.
When I got my results printout I realised the heat must have got to pretty much everyone else as well because I had finished nearly 40 positions ahead of my best attempt and with more people in the race, so my near PW magically turned into my best performance to date.
I made the top 21% of the race overall (432nd out of 2042 finishers) and the top 15% of the women (45th out of 297).
This race acts as the Italian National Open and Masters 100km championship and attracts plenty of decent runners so I will never get near a prize but on a personal level it just goes to show it's never over till you cross that line.
What a fantastic day to run a half marathon, maybe a bit hot for the guys doing the full marathon. River Mersey like a mill pond, spectators support unbelievable.
One poor guy fell at about 10/11 mile he hit the ground hard, I stopped to help him up, by the time I had bent down he was up and running faster than me, I never seen him again.
I was hoping for a sub 01:50 just missed out
I managed a 01:50:25

My last Croxteth PR - Just to make clear - I have not got lazy ... This was me taking my 12 year old on his first parkrun... Project 10 - 10 different parkruns to get him his Jnr 10 t-shirt commences. :-)
Help needed for Liverpool RnR results. As no club names listed it is hard to spot the PLS runners. I have picked out some names but can you add your results so I can include them. I know I have missed lots of times.

Stracastelli 16km, San Ippolito (Italy) 28.05
37. Simone Capponi - 1:18
Registered with a local club, atletica senigallia, because in Italy all races are competitive, therefore you can't just turn up and run like we do in Britain...
Also official time never appeared on the results, so I don't remember the seconds, although there was so much heat (30+c) and so many steep hills, hence the name stracastelli, tr. over and around the castles, that time wasn't an issue from the start, survival was better suited point.
Got a two courses meal and a glass of white as goody bag (beat that!) and the traditional feast of jam tarts and mortadella sandwiches at the various water stations throughout.
Not that I'm obsessed with food or anything mind you ;D
