Renata brings back my youth and memories of hearing her sing with some of the greatest tenors, including Mario Del Monaco at the Caracalla in Rome. I was married to a tenor with a great gift. His name was Miklos Gafni. He and I would listen to the great Renata Tebaldi, and see her incredible talent on stage. I hope that Miklos is singing praises to Renata in Heaven -- she who healed so many with the voice of an angel, and who uplifted my soul to the highest level. -- Jeanette

Rest eternally in the space created by the resonance of your seraphic voice. My Father loved Renata and is serenading her. -- Gabriella

Tomorrow will be 5 years since you left us.. You are still the greatest
nobody singing today has that kind of voice. I will never forget you.
Your voice was powerful yet so feminine, you had a glorious sound.
I miss you very much.

I loved the voice and artistry of Tebaldi since I bought her first Decca 78rpm discs. I played the "In quella trine morbide" over and over and knew that I had never heard a more beautiful Italian soprano voice. My CD collection has all her stereo operas and how fortunate she was to be a Decca artist. Their engineers recorded he voice wonderfully for posterity and when I listen to the Andrea Chenier of 1957 - a favourite - Renata is present to a magical degree. We wont here her like again. I met Renata Tebaldi when I was a boy soprano with the St. Paul's Choristers from Brooklyn , NY. We had been chosen to sing The Magic Flute with the Washington Opera Company. I think the year was around 1960? I remember being captivated by her beauty and that smile. Even 50 years later I still remember that. She had no airs about her and it was obvious everyone liked her. I also remember that I carried an alphabetic hand game (something like tic-tac-toe) and we would play it between scenes. I'm sure we were flirting with each other::))
