I am so pleased I have come across this website. I am trying to build a family tree on the Gatenby side of the family. My Grandfather Christopher Gatenby was born in Maunby and passed away in 1950 in Maunby. He is buried in the Church graveyard there. I visited Maunby last year with my Daughter and ever since I feel it pulling me back for another visit, which hopefully we will make this year. The 15'th edition of the Gatenby Reunion of the Yorkshire to Canada 1895 branch was held today at the home in Strathroy. Again we were blessed with sunshine and warm weather. Relations from the Kitchener area, Sarnia area London area and Goderich were present. Greetings from mark and Irene were relayed as they have been since Mark and Irene paid a visit years back. Keep up the good work Mark!

I noticed growing up that my family was the only Gattenby family that i had ever heard of. Went i got a little older i looked into it a little and found that there were Gattenby's in Oklahoma, USA. After looking into this site i am very pleasantly pleased to learn that i come from a long line of Gattenbys! Does anyone know how i can get a copy of the Crest?

Another year has passed and the Gatenbys' from Yorkshire to Ontario have had the 14'th reunion in Strathroy. This reunion was special in that also included was the dedication of "Gatenby Street" in the West end of London Ontario. At the dedication were the surviving siblings of John Kenneth Gatenby as well as his two children and a grandchild. The Gatenby name was so honoured for his service and the ultimate sacrifice during the 2'nd World War for King and Country. In attendance was the Mayor of London, officials of Norquay Developments and Tony Marsman representing the Netherlands and thanking the Canadians in the liberation of the Netherlands. Also attending were 45 Gatenbys.
